Jennifer Darmon and Mike Belawetz - Paralyzed bride determined to walk down the aisle

Jennifer Darmon rests her hands on her fiance's shoulders, looks into his eyes and takes a step. The dance is clumsy at first, but it gets better. With no sensation from her hips down, it's amazing Jennifer is on her feet at all. That she will walk down the aisle April 16 and share a first dance with her bridegroom is miraculous. Jennifer, 28, suffered a catastrophic spinal injury in a 2008 car crash. A vertebra broken and the nerves to her spinal cord shredded, she was told by a surgeon in London, Ont., she would never walk again. But thanks to a will of steel and leg braces of titanium, she now spends hours on her feet and out of her wheelchair. Jennifer and fiance Mike Belawetz, 24, practised their wedding dance last week at the Detroit Medical Centre's Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM). Jennifer has been going to RIM three times a week for two years.

Yoga Princess Preview

Yoga Princess (21:53) I fancy doing some Yoga so I wheel into the kitchen where I transfer onto the floor and remove my shoes and jeans, bending and wriggling my lifeless legs on my pink Yoga mat. My first instruction is breathing and stretching on the floor. I try to push my spine to the floor and it forces my legs wide open! I put them straight and describe where my body is feeling tight. I bring my knees up towards my body so my back is completely flat and roll from side to side. Letting my knees go I breathe in and my legs slide away from my body! The third exercise sees me open my legs at the knees and stretch my arms. I'm too close to the oven so I push away causing my legs to wobble. I force my legs straight again which is a struggle on the Yoga mat and do a stretch where I look at my feet and roll my head from side to side and straighten my legs again. I sit up, legs straight, and lift myself on the mat then breathe gently -- arching and straightening my spine before leaning all the way down do my head rests by my ankles. Opening my legs wide I lower my head to my right leg then the left before leaning forward again to feel all my mid back muscles stretching. I then roll onto my front and raise myself up on my elbows, then hands, stretching my spine and stomach. I force myself onto all fours for a cat stretch and manage to get all the way up before I slowly collapse. I do some more stretches on the lower back then wriggle into my jeans, roll the mat up and put it ...

Moving On: Season 3 Chapt. 62 {Early Christmas Gift}

Mandy's POV: I'm finally going home. I hate hospitals. I'm still in my casts but I'm gonna be fine. I'm just glad I'm gonna be home for Christmas. It's Marley's first and I want it to be special. Alana's taking her while I'm being discharged so she can give her an early present Gabe's going with them. I know what it is and I know that Jeff won't be happy but he won't let it be done any other way. Jeff helps me into my wheelchair. Shane walks in. Shane: The car's been pulled around. -Good. I can get out of here. Shane: *smiles* Got everything? -Yup. Jeff: Then let's go. The nurse pushes me out the door and to the elevator. We all get in and go down. Once we get there, I see Nicole and Frankie standing there. Frankie runs to me and hugs me. I smile and hug him back with my good arm. Frankie: You're coming home? -Yup. They push me out to the car and Jeff helps me in. Everyone gets in the back and we go home. Once we get there, Jeff and Shane help me out and they give me my crutches. I haven't had these since I was fifteen. Inside there's a banner hanging inside that reads: Welcome Home Mandy! Under it stands the rest of the band, Jo and Camille who's holding Katie. I smile. -You guys didn't have to do this. Carlos: Yes we did. I'm instantly helped to the couch and Jeff makes me put my leg up. Jeff: The doctor said to rest. -*rolls eyes* Why did I marry a doctor? Jeff: Because I'm awesome. -Uh huh. Sure. He smiles and kisses me. -Are Alana, Gabe and Marley back? Kendall: No ...
