In January 2009 Triskell started to lose the strength in her hind legs. After x-rays, computer tomography and even an examination / MRI at the Small Animal Clinic of the University of Giessen, we could rule out almost anything but Degenerative myelopathy. Degenerative myelopathy (DM) is a potentially debilitating neurological condition that can eventually paralyse its victims. Unfortunately, the cause of DM remains unknown, although researchers in both clinical and basic sciences are working to find answers. DM has been described as a degenerative neurological condition. Because there is no screening test DM is considered a rule-out condition, in which other mimicking conditions, such as a disc condition or tumours, must be eliminated, leaving DM as the conclusion. At present, a definitive identification of DM can only be determined post-mortem. Signs usually appear when a dog is between 5 and 9 years old. It begins with a loss of coordination in the hind legs. The dog may wobble or drag its feet. The condition generally results in rear leg paralysis in approximately three to six months, foreleg paralysis in about another three to six months, and respiratory failure approximately three to six months later. No pain appears to be associated with the paralysis, other than the dog wanting to continue life as before but being unable to. Both sexes appear to be equally affected. Salinka in her dog wheelchair from PetMRC / K9 Cart West

Salinka was your typical 13 year old Siberian husky. Six years of 4H training had mellowed her into a dignified senior. Yet, on some days that grace and dignity was replaced by a mischievous gleam in her light blue eyes and she would gallivant like a puppy chasing tennis balls and giving our local rabbits some exercise. Salinka appeared to be a husky that would surpass the typical life expectancy of 14 years. Then trouble happened. During the 4th of July, 2008, a large firecracker went off near our house scaring Salinka. In her sudden flight to get away from the noise, she stepped into a small hole and wrenched her left rear knee. Seeing her suddenly limping had me worried. Being a vet tech for six years my mind began running through all of the possible injuries that could have happened; the top two that came to mind were either her hip or knee had been injured. I took her to my vet the following day and the vet confirmed that her knee was blown out. I was faced with a dilemma. Salkina was an old husky and the ACL surgery that a specialist could perform would put her in harms way of dying under anesthesia. The cost of the surgery would be over $3000. Surgery was out of the question. The other option the vet offered was to keep her crated, not allow her access to the stairs, and drug her to minimize the pain. Worship Leader Healed Of Severe MS and paralysis by Jesus in Wath on Dearne.m4v

Last Sunday night I was at a meeting in Wath on Dearne at Nathan Morris's dad's church. Nathan and team were back from the states for a couple days and lead Sunday nights service. Rich (a worship leader) had loss of feeling and numbness to the left side of his body, down his arm, fingers, abdomen, leg and foot etc... He was told by the neurologist just in January that feeling would never return. He could not even feel being pricked with a pin on his left side. The doctors said that he had a very aggressive form of ms and that he would have problems with mobility for the rest of his life. Constant muscle spasms due to the damage and swelling on his brain & spine and that would be with him forever! Rich got touched by the Fire of God on Sunday, healed, set free from illness / affliction and got feeling back to his body. He went from coming in a wheelchair to being able to walk and run round the room by the end of the evening! All Praise and Glory to Jesus!! COME ONNN!!

The gang plank was rather steep and difficult to navigate, and Dick twisted his leg as he was coming down. He was in a great deal of pain as we climbed into the van, but decided to stay with us and hope for the best. Ferg took us on a short tour of Napier, explaining that the town was almost completely leveled during the 1931 earthquake. It was rebuilt in the beautiful art deco style that was in vogue at the time (some thought that the art deco buildings south of Miami are more abundant and impressive). Ferg drove us out to the Mission Estates Winery where we enjoyed wine tasting and saw the vineyards. I bought a bottle of their delicious Riesling and had no trouble bringing it onboard. While we were enjoying the winery, Ferg was checking for places to rent some crutches for Dick to use for the rest of the day. He dropped us off at our next destination - the Aquarium and then picked up the crutches. However we had been promised a dolphin show at Marineland in prior communications, so I was not happy about this change. Daytona

Meet Daytona. She was found in a field and brought into the vets office with some leg issues. The officer who brought her in thought she had been hit by a car, however, the vet believes it is neurological and was born this way. She will need to be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Her little back legs just dont work. Daytona needs a special foster home until a suitable rescue or forever home is found. She cannot go to the shelter she cannot withstand the concrete floors at the shelter and would have a hard time getting in and out of the Kurunda Beds. We cannot let her be euthanized if there are other options for her. She is approximately 5-6 months old and is an American Bulldog/Boxer mix. She has energy and loves to be around people and other dogs. She tried to scoot around the office floor to say hi to all the doggies in the kennels at the bottom. Selena awoke herself out of an unconscious haze, body numb. It was a horrible feeling, even though she could not feel the strangling grasp of pain, there was a some what unnatural feeling of not being able to feel your toes, fingers, in fact the rest of your body. Scared that she might have hurt her spine, (This had always been her biggest fear, being bound to a wheel chair for the rest of your life.) she strained her eyes to look at Nick, even though her vision was only in shadows at that moment.
